V.

I’ve lived most my life in Alaska, but I spent some years in Austin, Texas getting a degree from UT Austin in Rhetoric and Writing and ended up lingering for years; life settled, and I worked with an animal rescue fostering dogs, made my way as a substitute teacher, became a tech support specialist, later a freelance artist, and was a bassist in a small local band. Even after I had put away my part-timer shoes in the service industry, I realized the day to day of ‘office work’ and life itself was taking a toll on me. I needed a change, wanted it, and as I returned to Alaska and delved into the hard work of learning to care for myself, I discovered massage therapy.

I graduated from the Alaska Institute of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, and Massage Therapy in early 2021, and finished my Thai Floor Massage Specialization Program in spring of the same year. The latter has quickly become my driving passion in massage therapy; while I’m trained in a variety of methods, nothing has ever been so rewarding as not only helping a client walk away feeling better, looser, and more in tune with their own body, but also with expanded understanding of just how varied applied Thai bodywork can be, and how different and impactful the results can be.

When I’m not in a session, I’m usually found with a pen or bass in hand, getting passionate about any and all forms of storytelling, or diving into a new artistic or creative rabbit hole with a large mug of coffee nearby.

V. Barefoot Massage

During your Barefoot massage session with V, she will use her feet and supplement some massage with her hands. The feet have approximately 100,00-200,000 nerve endings that she uses to palpate bony landmarks and soft tissue, she is specially trained in finding your tight, painful areas. Although pressure can be adjusted, this is great for the deep tissue massage lover, such as athletes or people of larger stature with healthy bones. While not new to the massage industry and also specializing in Thai Floor Massage, V is trained in the first level of barefoot massage and has the core knowledge of unique specialty.

V. Thai Massage

During your Thai Floor massage with V. you will wear loose comfortable clothing and the massage is done on a floor mat. V. uses hands, knees, legs, and feet to move clients into a series of yoga-like stretches and also applies deep muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure.  Stretching, pulling, and rocking techniques relieve tension and enhance flexibility and range of motion. V. will guide you through stretches giving light instruction to breathe or relax to help deepen stretches and assist in range of motion movement.
